Conflict minerals refer to the metal minerals such as tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold (abbreviated as the “3TG”) produced in the conflict areas controlled by non-governmental military groups or non-military factions from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the nine countries sharing internationally recognized borders with it. The exploitation of these metals in the local areas has caused serious human rights and environmental protection problems.
